Profile
Fumikazu Masuda was born in 1949 at Tokyo, Japan. After he graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, he has worked for a housing industry and a design firm before setting up his own office as an independent industrial designer in 1978.
In 1991, established open house Inc. (President). From 2000 to 2015, served as a professor in industrial design and sustainable projects at the Department of Design, Tokyo Zokei University. Since 1988, he served as a member of the Good Design Award Judging Committee and director of the Japan Institute of Design Promotion. Currently lectures and conducts workshops on sustainable design at universities and other organizations in Japan and overseas.
Also served as Executive Committee Chairman for the International Conference of Design for Sustainability held annually from 2006 to 2016. Currently, Chairman of the Judging Committee for the Kids Design Award, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Good Life Award organized by Ministry of the Environment, Jury of Wood Design Award.
