Summary:
A project based at Yokohama's Civic Art Gallery Azamino aiming at a pleasant museum for all people through the discovery of museum appeal and themes through citizen participation workshops. We are implementing diverse solution strategies for the issues such as access difficulties and the need for support for aesthetic appreciation, while investigating opposing and overlapping themes from people with different special characteristics.

Summary:
Airkis is a set of specifications to improve air quality in the home. Setting its standards for children, who are more susceptible to the effects of chemical substances than adults, it aims to reduce the indoor levels of five chemical substances specified in the Housing Performance Indication System to less than 50% of the guideline values of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. It is a comprehensive system that ensures better air quality in each process of design, construction, and delivery.
The universal design in improving air quality indoors lets children and adults lead healthy, comfortable lives with a peace of mind.

Communication Device, ‘Let’s Chat’

This device is for people with disabilities of both speech and the upper limbs. It enables them, by merely pressing an input switch in response to a voice guide or lights on a chart of Japanese characters, to compose, save, retrieve, display, announce and print sentences. Using just a slight movement of the body, they can communicate their wishes and intentions to family members, helpers and others, and otherwise carry out daily communication.

Sensitive User Participation Design Example: Service Counter Lobby Chair ‘Padre’

We treat disabled users who are more sensitive to issues as "sensitive users," and after extracting issues through conversations with users and observation of their behavior, we made a cooperative proposal for new value.In the current proposal, new ideas were born from the information gathered in past workshops with users, and we were able to further develop the prototype for a service counter lobby chair.

A room air conditioner completely focused on ease of use from the viewpoints of psychology and engineering, and differing from conventional air conditioners and their multiple functionalities for meeting a variety of needs. Based on experimental data on human eyeball movement, the remote control features intuitive operation with buttons and dial-type switches that differ in color and shape according to function.

With the Wireless Door Monitor, you can see, from inside your home, the situation outside your front door merely by pressing the “Monitor” button.You can easily install the camera merely by affixing it to the front door, and since it transmits wirelessly, there is no bothersome wiring work.The monitor is equipped with a large, 3.5-inch LCD screen, so that the face and form of visitors can be checked more easily than with previous models. The Life Innovation Containers used in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake are independent power systems made by equipping a shipping container with solar panels, storage batteries, and a charging and discharging control device. They were developed to provide a lifestyle with the benefits of electricity to unelectrified regions of developing countries. However, from the experience of using them in earthquake-stricken areas, the possibility of employing them as an emergency power source in advanced countries has also attracted attention.
