This publication presents innovative examples of UD initiated by IAUD members covering various business sectors and organizations as well as academic-government-industry initiatives. The single volume is a compilation of articles featuring the initiatives of 32 companies and organizations. The articles were published over the past two and a half years or so in the IAUD Newsletter, the monthly magazine for IAUD members. The book also features an original article by Keiichiro Kawarabayashi, Vice President, University of Shizuoka of Art and Culture entitled Trends and the Future Direction of UD in Companies and Society. The starting point of UD is to understand the diverse users, and diverse users call for diverse approaches. This book has wide application as basic examples in various design areas as well as a reference for adopting UD ideas of UD and diversity in business management and product planning.
