The 2nd Regular Seminar in 2023 was successfully held online on Wednesday, September 13rd, inviting experts to speak on UD-related topics.
The theme of this event was “UD Training for Human Resource Development through e-learning” and Mr. Malintha Fernando from HSBC, which won the IAUD International Design Grand Award 2022 for their entry “HSBC Accessibility Hub” was a speaker at the event.
Furthermore, the panel discussion was taken place with the members of IAUD International Design Award 2023 Selection Committee and we shared valuable time.



Learning from the IAUD International Design Grand Award 2022

Approximately 20 people, including IAUD members, participated in this IAUD regular seminar, which was held for the second time since the coronavirus pandemic.
The moderator for the event was Mr. Keiji Kawahara, IAUD Executive Director and the member of IAUD International Design Award 2023 Selection Committee. In this time, as information accessibility, Japanese and English translation captioning service using Zoom's language interpretation function were delivered.

After that, Mr. Fernando spoke about the HSBC Accessibility Hub initiative, which was developed to raise awareness within the company about the importance of digital accessibility and provides inclusive training to all staff around the world.

Following the lecture, a panel discussion was held with Mr. Fumikazu Masuda, Co-chair of the IAUD International Design Award 2023 Selection Committee (President, open house inc.) and Mr. Kawahara.
They praised the HSBC Accessibility Hub as a remarkable example of an inclusive staff-training program from a leading corporate financial institution.

This regular seminar was a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of the UD approach in service development in the financial industry and reaffirm the significance of working on UD.
We received high praise from the participants, who said, “It was a fulfilling seminar with a lot of learning,” and “I learned about examples of people who are seriously working on UD internationally.”
