Daichi Iwase

Associate Professor at Tokyo Zokei University: Japan


Daichi Iwase was born in 1977 at Tokyo, Japan. After he graduated from Design Management course in the Department of Design at Tokyo Zokei University in 2003, he went abroad to study at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 2004.
After the Netherlands, he moved to Thailand in 2005 and finished his master degree at Graduate School of Architecture and Design, King Mongkut’s University, Thonburi in Thailand in 2007 and Ph.D. at Graduate School of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University in Thailand in 2013.
From 2014 to 2015, served as a fulltime lecturer at King Mongkut’s University, Thonburi and from 2015, serve as Associate Professor in Project subject at Tokyo Zokei University.
From 2012 to 2016, he also served as Executive Committee member for the International Conference of Design for Sustainability.
Currently, he also serves as TZU DESIS Lab coordinator and Spedagi Tokyo Project co-representative apart from the university.

His research interest is social design and sustainable design that makes sustainable thing and activity by utilizing local resources.

Spedagi Tokyo project won the July’s special award at the 6th Ministry of the Environment’s Good Life Award in 2018.
