Invited Speakers

She is the first-class architect living in Fukushima city and is director representative of non-profit organization Universal Design Yui since its foundation in 2006.  Yui is a group composed of professionals dedicated to architecture, design, welfare, information and education areas.  Yui has been engaging in wide range of activities related to UD, promoting UD concept, in collaboration with local industries, elementary, junior-high and senior-high schools as well as with local government. 

The grand prize was awarded to Yui for “Communication board for pointing one’s finger” and also the honorable mention was given for UD sugoroku named “Machinaka Guruguru Game” both at Media Universal Design Competition in 2008 and 2009.  Also “Cabinet Office Special Assignment Minister Award” was given at Barrier free Universal Design contributor commendation hosted by Cabinet Office in fiscal 2009. 

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, Yui conducted “UD survey of temporary housing” and has been addressing problems on desirable temporary housing in the future and post-quake living environment measures as well.  Furthermore, Yui assisted in holding concerts for evacuees and conducted awareness campaign on rehabilitation to senior high-school students in Hamadoori region of Fukushima by inviting them for an inspection tour in the Great Hanshin Earthquake area.  Togashi is also the top facilitator of Fukushima UD Promotion Association.
