Kaori Yamane

President, SHUFUREN: Japan
After graduating from a university, Ms. Kaori Yamane worked for a trading company and held other occupations before becoming a homemaker. In 1998, she joined SHUFUREN, which was established in 1948 for "the realization of a safe, consumer-oriented society that is comfortable to live in" with the "rice paddle" as its symbol. In 2008, she was appointed President of SHUFUREN. The organization listens to the voices of citizens and consumers, works on the government and society at large, and promotes consumer education. She has two sons and a daughter. She serves on the Ministry of Justice's policy evaluation committee and committee on the lay judge system and the Food Safety Commission's expert committee on planning, among others.
