Ko-chiu Wu

Associate professor, National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT): Taiwan

Ko-Chiu Wu is currently an associate professor in Graduate Institute of Interactive Media Design, NTUT (Taiwan).  His research is primary focused on design methodology and user interface.  As an architect both in the U.S. and Taiwan, he realized the importance of the "user-centered interface", and "design communication" in the application of Universal Design (UD).

Wu was a researcher, in the Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior, R.O.C., and served as a board member to review "Building specification for the design of barrier-free facilities" encoded by Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI), Ministry of the Interior, R.O.C.

Wu draft a proposal for developing of Universal Design community in the 8th National Science and Technology Conference, Taiwan in 2009, to help Taiwan to move to a friendly barrier-free society.

Wu also edited two UD related technical reports (ABRI), "The planning of Universal Design Housing" (ISBN: 978-986-01-7214-0) and "The planning of Universal Design Park" (ISBN: 978-986-02-1562-5). These two reports investigate barrier-free environments and prospect other applications of UD, such as transportation facilities on Taiwan urban districts.
