Finished the master’s course in construction engineering at Nihon University School of Science and Engineering in 1965.
Became a professor at the Department of Science and Engineering of Nihon University in 1994, and has been a professor at the Graduate School of International University of Health and Welfare since 2006.


Holds a number of offices including: Chairman of the Japan Association for Inclusive Society; Councilor of the Japanese Society for Wellbeing Science and Assistive Technology; Temporary member of the construction committee of the Panel on Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport; Chairman of the selection committee for contributors to the promotion of barrier-free, the Cabinet Office; Vice chairman of the Central Council for the Promotion of Measures for Disabled Persons, the Cabinet Office; Prior evaluation committee member of the Comprehensive Research Project on Longevity Science, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare; Vice chairman of the advisory board for the promotion of the housing fire prevention measures, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency; Member of the Tokyo Social Welfare Council; Chairman of the council of welfare urban development of Tokyo; Adviser of the barrier-free housing promotion council of Tokyo; Chairman of the review committee for the basic concept of the barrier-free transportation law in Yokohama; Chairman of the Certification Test for Housing Environment Coordinator for Elderly and Disabled Persons, the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Technology; and many others.
