Application for the use of a wheelchair in advance

If you apply for the use of a wheelchair to the station where you plan to take a train at least two days prior to getting on the train, you will receive assistance from a station employee.

Instructions for returning home

The Shinkansen up-platform (for Tokyo) has no elevator. You should apply for the use of a wheelchair to JR Kyoto station at least two days prior to getting on the train. *If you apply for the use of a wheelchair in advance, a station employee will guide you through a special route.


For those who use Shinkansen

(Time required: about ten minutes)

  1. A station employee from JR Tokai will guide you from the Shinkansen platform to the East Exit of JR Hachijo (1F).
  2. Use an elevator to the underpass.
  3. Get off the elevator, and proceed about 100 meters to the left.
  4. Be sure to use Central Gate 1 on the left at the subway station.

  5. *Elevators are not available at the other gates.


For those who use Shinkansen and Kanku Express “Haruka”

For those who use Shinkansen

  1. Ride an elevator, which leads to the concourse, at the center of the Shinkansen platform.
  2. Get off the elevator, and proceed to the Shinkansen Central Entrance*1 on the left.
  3. Pass through the Entrance, and ride an elevator on left side of the front stairs.
  4. Get off the elevator, proceed the bottom of walkway to the left, and take an elevator (with 0 sign) to the platform on the first floor
  5. Get off the elevator, go straight about 45 meters, and pass through the Central Gate (JR West) at the left.
  6. Go straight, pass through the Central Exit, turn right and proceed 145 meters, and you will see an elevator.
  7. Ride the elevator to the basement, and soon the Central-1 Gate (Subway)*2 will appear.
  8. *1 Be careful not to confuse it with the Shinkansen Central Gate.
    *2 Elevators are not available at the other subway gates.


For those who use Kanku Express “Haruka”

  1. After getting off the train, proceed about 80 meters to the right, and you will see the Central Gate (JR West) on the left.
  2. Go straight, pass through the Central Exit, turn right and proceed 145 meters, and you will see an elevator.
  3. Ride the elevator to the basement, and soon the Central-1 Gate (Subway)* will appear.
  4. * Elevators are not available at the other subway gates.
