Invited Speakers

Born in Kyoto in 1946. After graduating from Kyoto Institute of Technology, he entered Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co. in 1969. He completed graduate school of University of California at Barkeley in 1974. At Tokyo Shibaura Electric, he engaged in designing and design management of home electrical appliances, images, information and communication equipment as well as in social system. In 1997, he became the head of Design Center, Toshiba Corporation. In 2001, he undertook the first experiment of design management called "Dream Container" which was collaboration/design strategy by Toshiba Corporation. He is currently vice president of Shizuoka University of Art and Culture from 2004. He is also the director of Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization from 2005, specially appointed professor of Kyoto Institute of Technology from 2006 and the head of Hamamatsu City Universal Design Advisory Board from 2009.
