Kenshun Ishii

President, NIDO Industrial Design Office: Japan

Mr. Ishii was graduated from Kuwazawa Design School in 1965, majored in industrial design. Office start-up in 1966 up to present, NIDO Industrial Design Office.

He was the visiting professor at Department of Biocybernetics, Faculty of Engineering, Niigata University, part time lecturer at Kuwazawa Design School, councilor at both Association for Children's Environment and Japanese Society for Wellbeing Science and Assistive Technology.

He is now a member of Japan Continence Action Society, Japan Society of Research on Early Childhood Care and Education, Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan, and Japan Ergonomics Society.

Many design works specializing in many assistive equipment/tools including UD cutleries named "Grand-mere", self-supportive robot "My spoon" and so on have been developed by Mr. Ishii.

He received a special prize for 5th Export Goods Design Contest hosted by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1961; Kitaro Kunii Industrial Design Award in 1987;
Good Design Award 1996 (category: long life); IDS Prize in IDS Design Competition in 1996; Good Design Award 1999 (category: small business); and Kuwazawa Award in 2000.
