Thank you very much for your applications team members have been selected.

The International Association for Universal Design (IAUD) has conducted two Universal Design Workshops, in 2004 and 2005, while the Helen Hamlyn Research Centre (HHRC) at the Royal College of Art, U.K. hosted the “24 Hour Inclusive Design Challenge” at INCLUDE 2005 in April 2005. This is a special workshop, collaboratively planned by both the IAUD and the HHRC, which is modeled on those workshops.

Guide

1. Content/Format

  • Participants, drawn from within the IAUD and from the list of registrants for “The 2nd International Conference for Universal Design in Kyoto 2006”, are divided into five teams, each of which is led by a professional British designer.
  • Themes are revealed on the day and the teams participate in a design competition based on those themes, within a 48 hour time limit. The first 24 hours are mainly devoted to issue extraction and design development while the remaining 24 hours are predominantly spent synthesizing the design and producing presentation materials.
  • At the workshop venue, a number of disabled participants with a variety of physical functional characteristics will be on hand to advise the teams.
  • On the final day open presentations will be made at the International Conference and awards for the best designs will be made after public judging by conference participants.
