"Designing for the 21st Century III, An International Conference on Universal Design" will be held from Dec.7 to Dec.12 2004 in Rio de janeiro, Brazil.
Mr. Toda (Chairman of the council in IAUD, Executive Vice President, Matshushita Elecectric Industrial Co., Ltd.) will read of a Greeting from His Imperial Highness Prince Tomohito, Patron of IAUD in Keynote session on Dec.9.
We IAUD coordinate the Special Half-Day Plenary Session, it will be held on Dec.10 AM at room Rio 2.
In IAUD session, Mr. Toda will remark keynote address, and 6 members will read a paper of Universal Design Practices in Japanese Corporation.

The First IAUD Open Seminar was held in the auditorium at the Headquarters of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (in Ginza). 400 people including general attendees participated in the seminar.

Inauguration ceremony and commemorative party were held.
IAUD was formally inaugurated.
We held the following events commemorating the inauguration
of IAUD at the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel (in Shibuya).
In the board meeting and the council, we passed the rules, the business plan
for 2003, and the budget, and decided on the organizational structure for 2003.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, a press conference was held in the Marunouchi Building in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, announcing the establishment of the "International Association for Universal Design." 116 people (98 representing a company, 100 from the media) participated. We would like to thank those who came to the press conference.
